How I Got "Kree-ations"

Posted on August 16, 2009 at 1:51 AM Comments comments (1)

I am the oldest of 4 children. My oldest brother (4 years my junior) dubbed me "Kree" when he started talking and it kind of stuck. Mum, dad and my 3 brothers still call me Kree to this day.

I have always been interested in doing something with my sewing skills and quite a few years ago, I was playing with possible lable names and the same brother suggested "Kree-ations" which felt perfect. It doesn't matter what I do website-wise - I can make clothes, soft toys, nappies, d...

How to use the Forums

Posted on August 16, 2009 at 1:39 AM Comments comments (0)

The forums are a way for members to share useful information and personal experiences. There is nothing more annoying than googling for information that could be found and having to wade through personal conversations. So, with that in mind, I have set up an Idle Chit Chat section. There are two - one for regular conversations and one in the Christian section.

Please keep in mind that this site is open to persons of all ages so please keep the posts clean and positive! Any posts depicti...

Forums

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, I love sharing my ideas, hints, tips, recipes and stories. I often bamboozle people till they fall asleep with my constant ranting, although many people have said that they have found my rantings useful so I guess it's not all bad.

I also love sharing my experiences - recommending great places to eat or buy products and warning others about places that did not measure up!

I did say SHARE - I love to swap patterns, reci...

My Nappy Experience

Posted on August 16, 2009 at 1:33 AM Comments comments (0)

I intended to use cloth nappies right from the start. I did a lot of research on the net while pregnant and it seemed that babies in cloth were less likely to get nappy rash and infections and generally potty trained earlier. I liked the sound of that!!!

I am a very budget-minded person so I bought 3 dozen Dickies cotton terry squares and about the same again in liners (I can't remember what brand they were but they were polyester) which were roughly $1.50 each plus 6 pairs...

Toiletry Bags for the Needy

Posted on August 16, 2009 at 12:58 AM Comments comments (0)

I recently went onto Freecycle and asked for items to add to my collection to put into toiletry bags for the needy.  I have recieved 3 responses so far - 2 with offers and one with ideas.  Anything helps as long as any toiletry items are new (although I am not allowed to add things like razors or nail files which is a pity as that would be vital to someone going for a job interview).

The bags are made up and then donated to the Knitting for Brisbane's Needy g...

More Grrrr..

Ok - it is now confirmed that although we have Publisher, we don't actually have it downloaded on the puter.  Grrrr...

I am in the process of making some nappies that I think will be quite striking...  they are aqua with black lining in sizes med, small and NB.  I also have a piece of plain black PUL and will be making some small and medium plain black touchtape nappies.  I was going to make them with glow-in-the-dark star shaped snaps, but the snaps don...

Newsletter

I won't be doing a newsletter this month.  I am still trying to figure out a way to create a newsletter using microsoft - apparantly we have publisher on our computer so I am going to look into that.  So here's to a month of more computer time and hopefully a breakthrough in the newsletter scene!

Kree-ations will be low-key over school holidays

Posted on June 24, 2009 at 6:19 PM Comments comments (0)

Yes, kindy only runs during school terms so I'll be on the low-key for the holidays as it's difficult to get out to the bat cave with a cranky child who wants to get into everything despite the TV and DVD that hubby put in there to keep her happy.

So for the time between 24 June and 12 July, I'll be quite busy chasing a cute little lolly-legged brat around the house.  Who would have thought that one little person could be so tiring?

More sewing :-)

I have been hard at work while my cherub is at kindy getting more cloth menstrual pads ready to go.

At this point, they are cut out and ready to sew.

I've managed to get some personal sewing done as well - I've finished a little pink dress in about a size 5 (although DD does insist on wearing it even though it's a summer dress and miles too big).  Well, I don't mind if she wants to wear it - better than nothing at all which is what she seem...

Movie Review - "Outsouced"

Outsourced

Like most companies, the company Todd is manager of is outsourcing their call centre overseas - to India. Todd, although not happy with the situation, must travel over the pond to bring the new call centre up to standard and train his replacement.

Can Todd "Americanise" the new call centre workers?  Or will th...

Book Review - Seize the Night by Dean Koontz

Seize the Night by Dean Koontz (Horror)

This is the second in a trilogy, however I didn't realise this until I was half way through.  I'll be reading "Fear Nothing" soon and give an appraisal when I'm done.

Moonlight Bay is no ordinary tourist town - it has a dark secret.  Christopher Snow has a rare genetic disorder that prevents him from going anywhere near a light of any sort - his world is the night.

Children are going mis...

I just want to say a huge welcome to all the new members - over 50 just in the last month!!!!!!!

I am still not quite over my ills from May and my daughter's chest infection is still bugging her.  So no sleep for us!

Hubby is back from Nowra so I may actually have some more time to get sewing/pattern-making done.  Yay!  My sewing room is outside of the house (see other blogs under Batcave) so I can't just nip over to the machine whenever I ...

The free pattern from No.1 Grandma (May 09)

Posted on May 11, 2009 at 7:21 AM Comments comments (0)

I am nearly finished the knitting pattern that No.1 Grandma offered this month for the free patterns (member's page).  I had to purchase another ball of yarn as I ran out.  I would say that it uses 120-130g 8ply (Aussie).

I will post a pic of it when I'm done here on the blog and in the photo album

Newsletter

If you are a member, you would have recieved the newsletter by now.  It wasn't really what I wanted and a few things just didn't work properly, but it was ok for a first attempt.

I do hope you enjoyed it and I'm going to add them to the site in a new page in the near future.

Please do contact me and let me know what you think about it :-)

Well, it's 10:30pm my time and my eyes are falling out of their sockets, and I'm busting for a toilet stop but I thought to hop on and let you know about how the newsletter has been very interesting indeed!

Firstly, I lost the gorgeous newsletter I did up on a word document.  I still haven't found it.  Then I realised I needed the e-mail addresses stored on my webs.com manager's area.  Duh!  So I painstakingly wrote them all down by hand and added them t...

I have a treat for members in May - 2 patterns!!!!  I won't go into details yet, but one of the patterns was kindly offered by a member!

I am also going to be doing a few features on member's sites in my new "Featured Sites" page.

And I'm working on a newsletter for May.

One last thing I am looking into is e-vouchers for customers to purchase to use as gifts - mothers day, baby showers, thankyou gifts, Christmas ...

Easter

Posted on April 20, 2009 at 1:56 AM Comments comments (0)

Wow - Easter was such a fly-by event!  Added to my daughter's third birthday and it makes for one busy long weekend.

As you may well realise now I didn't get any sewing done!  I took a dress I needed to finish the hem for and forgot the matching thread so that is still not finished (I take my time with hems as it's one of those make-or-break things to me).  I did nearly finish the top I am knitting for my daughter (in soya/cotton yarn).  So that is a bon...

Another Knit'n Natter Tote Bag

Posted on April 1, 2009 at 7:18 AM Comments comments (1)

My friend's birthday was on Saturday and a couple of weeks ago, I got the hair-brained idea to make her the knit'n natter tote bag using the Judith Tetley pattern as she loves it.  So....

I asked her of her favourite colour (yellow) and went into Spotlight with a grumpy child to get proper crafting fabrics and some pellon as the thin wadding I used for mine was useless.

My daughter and I gave it to her today at knit'n natter today and she seemed quit...

Knit'n NatterTote Bag

Posted on March 23, 2009 at 12:53 AM Comments comments (1)

I finished my Knit'n Natter Tote Bag (designed by Judith Tetley) with a few discrepancies.

Mine certainly doesn't look as good as hers!

I got creative and decided to make it using denim for strength and then couldn't interperet the instructions very well so ended up with an extra pocket on the inside and the loom pocket wasn't put in correctly (although it does work) and the outside pockets were not correct either!  I didn't have any pellon so used t...

Knitting technique and yarn

Posted on March 19, 2009 at 8:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Last Saturday at Knit'n natter, Yvette (worth her weight and mine in diamonds) taught me a better knitting technique and my tension is now perfect.

Put it this way, I knitted a jumper for my husband many years ago.  I used the pattern that was 2 sizes too small and needles 2 sizes too small and it still swam on him - room for both of us even if were pregnant.

Thankyou sooooo much Yvette - "we are not worthy"

On another topic, I recieved a gift voucher from Spotlight for...
